GETTING ACQUAINTED!

How do you greet people around the world?

Each country has its own customs and traditions, including the way of greeting. Meeting people native to the country you are visiting is always nice, but this situation can become a bit awkward if you do not know the usual way of greeting, especially if you are visiting the country for the first time.

Countries such as Italy, France, Spain, Portugal and South America have in common a very affectionate greeting. The inhabitants of these countries when they meet a friend or an acquaintance, as a general rule, between men shake hands and between women and between men and women give two kisses on the cheeks, even up to three in France.

But, Countries likes Germany, the Czech Republic, Denmark, the Netherlands and Norway are colder when it comes to greetings than those mentioned above. As a general rule, when they meet someone for the first time they shake hands, both between men, between women and men with women.

In my country, colombia, apart from the traditional handshake or kiss on the cheek, it is normal to hear phrases like: "quiubo mano, que mas?", being the equivalent of hello how are you in others countries?.
